Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, held a working meeting with He Xiaoqun, the Vice President of China Eastern Airlines, one of China’s largest airlines.

The main focus of the meeting was the expansion of air communication between the two countries, ongoing joint projects, and facilitating the further growth of tourist flows.

The sides discussed in detail the marketing and organizational activities aimed at increasing the frequency of direct flights between Georgia and China. It was emphasized that direct air communication plays a crucial role in developing bilateral economic relations, trade links, and tourism.

“We had a very productive meeting. Within the framework of the meeting, we discussed ongoing joint activities that will further increase the frequency of direct flights between the two countries. We also planned a number of new activities to strengthen direct flights. Our desire is clear: we want the current frequency of three flights per week to increase so that we soon see daily flights, and eventually two flights a day, so that we have the opportunity to bring even more tourists to our country via direct flights virtually every month,” –  the Minister of Economy noted after the meeting.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides expressed readiness to continue active cooperation, which will facilitate the maximum growth of traveler flows from China and position Georgia as an attractive tourist destination in the Asian region.
