A delegation of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, led by Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani, was on a working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The purpose of the visit was to utilize world-class port expertise and the knowledge of international partners in the implementation process of the new development model for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.

The Port of Rotterdam is one of the world’s largest and most successful ports, operating specifically under the Landlord model.

The Georgian delegation personally learned about the port management system, the operation of multimodal terminals, the integration of maritime, rail, and road logistics, as well as modern technologies that ensure fast, efficient and competitive cargo movement.

During the visit to Rotterdam, the delegation held a working meeting at the headquarters of the international engineering and design company Royal HaskoningDHV. The company is the author of the detailed design for the maritime infrastructure of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, based on which construction work is already actively underway.

At the meeting, the progress of the construction process and the subsequent engineering phases of the project were discussed.

The visit also included a working meeting with Port of Rotterdam Consultants (PCR), which is working on the updated master plan for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port. Emphasis was placed on the preparation process of the master plan, optimal terminal layouts, development of multimodal infrastructure, integration of rail and port systems, cargo flow forecasting and a phased development model based on market demands.

Tamar Ioseliani, during her visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was accompanied by Ivane Abashidze, Director of the Maritime Transport Agency and Zurab Sichinava, Director of Anaklia Sea Port.
