eputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili, together with National Tourism Administration Head, Maia Omiadze, met with Edison Chen, Vice President of Trip.com Group, a major technology group from the People’s Republic of China.
During the meeting, the parties discussed Georgia’s tourism potential. It was noted that within the framework of Georgia’s integrated marketing campaign in the Chinese market, cooperation is ongoing with Trip.com Group’s popular tourism platform, Ctrip. Specifically, a dedicated Georgia page was launched on Ctrip, allowing platform users to explore Georgia’s tourist destinations and products, as well as search for and purchase flights, hotels and other travel services directly from the page.
The Deputy Minister highlighted China as a strategic tourism destination, emphasizing both targeted marketing campaigns and the launch of more direct flights between the two countries.
The meeting emphasized that the main goal of the campaign is to increase awareness of Georgia as a tourist destination in the Chinese market, engage potential travellers and ultimately stimulate travel and bookings to Georgia. The campaign will run until the end of 2026.
According to 2026 first two quarters’ data, 54554 international visits from China to Georgia were recorded, representing a 16,7% increase compared to the same period of last year. In the second quarter alone, growth reached 3,2%. Throughout 2025, a totals of 127895 visits were made from China to Georgia, marking a 44% increase compared to 2024.
