Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Fu Jun, Chairman of major Chinese automaker BAIC International, at the company’s headquarters.

During the meeting, the Minister presented a study commissioned by the Georgian Economic Development Corporation regarding the feasibility of establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the country, highlighting prospects for cooperation with BAIC International.

The sides discussed the export potential of electric vehicles produced in Georgia, particularly to European markets under existing Free Trade Agreements.

Both parties agreed that the Chinese company will send a working group to Georgia to carry out a joint operational assessment.

They emphasized the success the Chinese automaker enjoys in both domestic and international markets. For his part, the Chairman of BAIC International elaborated on the company’s strategic growth vectors, international activities and plans for geographic expansion.

At BAIC International’s headquarters, the Chairman showcased the company’s vehicle lineup to the Minister and members of the Georgian delegation.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Ministers Irakli Nadareishvili, Tamar Ioseliani and Genadi Arveladze.
