Deputy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili met with the representatives of Georgian and international airlines operating in Georgia at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Civil Aviation Agency, the National Tourism Administration, the United Airports of Georgia, TAV Georgia, and companies operating in the civil aviation sector.
Ongoing processes in Georgia’s civil aviation sector, decisions made to improve airline operations and enhance passenger services, as well as existing challenges and ways to overcome them were discussed at the meeting. Emphasizing the importance of tourism in the country, the participants agreed on various coordinated activities and cooperation that will contribute to improving the quality of service processes at Georgia’s international airports and will be aimed at creating a positive first impression of Georgia for international visitors.
“It is very important that the experience of each person arriving in our country, from the very first contact with Georgia, begins with maximum hospitality and goodwill at the international airport. We presented to the airline representatives the position agreed with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to facilitate the improvement of the service process quality at Georgia’s international airports and to ensure that arriving international visitors have the most positive first impression of our country,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili said after the meeting.
The Deputy Minister assessed the meeting as productive and noted that during the conversation with representatives of airlines and travel agencies, it was important that they emphasized that the current year was particularly successful for the civil aviation sector.
“It was noted at the meeting that there is significant growth in bookings and airline occupancy, which clearly indicates an increase in the interest of international visitors in traveling to Georgia. We are confident that with the increased demand, our country’s tourism and aviation sectors, through close cooperation, will achieve even greater success and contribute to economic development” – the Deputy Minister said.
The meeting paid particular attention to preparations for the summer navigation season. It was noted that in the first quarter of 2025, Georgian airports served a total of more than one and a half million passengers, and the number of passengers carried exceeded the same period in 2024 by 8%. It was also said that for the peak period of the summer navigation season, flights will be operated by 60 passenger airlines, on 118 air routes, with approximately 735-740 frequencies per week, which will be approximately 5-6% more than the flights operated during the same period in 2024.
