Within the frames of the Prime Minister of Georgia’s visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with Nurlan Sauranbayev, Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan.
The parties discussed the prospects of deepening of transport and logistics cooperation, strategic partnership and further collaboration between the two countries. Emphasis was placed on the strengthening of regional and international connectivity.
Increasing of the competitiveness and efficiency of the Middle Corridor was the main topic of the discussion. It was noted that coordinated efforts and the implementation of digital solutions within the Middle Corridor framework are crucial for the fast and seamless transit of cargo.
Attention was also focused on the strategic importance of the port infrastructure development. Particular emphasis was placed on the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, as one of the vital components of the Middle Corridor. It was noted that the port holds immense significance both for strengthening Georgia's transit function and for all partner countries of the Middle Corridor.
Mariam Kvrivishvili highlighted the necessity of the synchronized development of transport infrastructure. It was noted that the Georgian side is making significant investments in the modernization of the Georgian Railway, which will increase capacity and facilitate the efficient movement of freight flows.
The meeting also focused on the deepening of cooperation in the civil aviation sector, which, in turn, contributes to the growth of tourist flows.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Georgian as well as Kazakh side expressed their readiness to actively continue working towards more efficient utilization of the transit and logistical capabilities of both countries.
