Dredging operations have commenced at the Anaklia Deep Sea Port as the first dredger vessel, Tristao Da Cunha, entered the maritime waters of the future port.
Following the completion of procedures established by law, the vessel will begin work to construct the breakwater channel.
The seabed in Anaklia’s maritime area will be dredged to a depth of 17,5 meters, followed by the construction of a 1380-meter-long breakwater in the next phase. These works are being carried out according to a predefined plan.
Construction works are actively underway in the future port's maritime zone, executed by the world-renowned Belgian company Jan De Nul N.V., a member of the so-called Big Four, in partnership with Georgian companies.
The Government of Georgia is constructing the Anaklia Deep Sea Port using the globally proven “Landlord“ model. This model will allow the state to develop the Anaklia Port through partnerships with multiple countries and companies simultaneously, creating optimal conditions for attracting cargo and maximizing operational efficiency.
It is worth noting that alongside the port infrastructure, the government is ensuring the development of transport connectivity to Anaklia, including road and rail links.
