Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, held an introductory meeting with the newly appointed Chargé d'Affaires of the United States of America to Georgia, Courtney Austrian.

The Minister congratulated the newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires on the commencement of her diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished her success in her future endeavors.

During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation between Georgia and the US, including future prospects for developing relations in sectors such as bilateral trade, energy, transport and logistics, investments, strengthening connectivity and others.

Attention was focused on the importance of the Middle Corridor in terms of enhancing regional connectivity and Georgia’s readiness to serve increased cargo flows between Asia and Europe. The Georgian side spoke in detail about the government’s strategic vision to develop its transport and logistics infrastructure, thereby contributing to raising the country’s competitiveness along the Middle Corridor. Emphasis was placed on projects such as the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, railway modernization, the East-West Highway, the construction of the new Tbilisi airport and the overall development of the country’s aviation infrastructure.

The parties also discussed the Black Sea Submarine Electricity Cable project and the development of green energy in the country.

It was highlighted that the Middle Corridor is and will remain one of the safest transit routes in the future.

Genadi Arveladze and Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development, also attended the meeting.
